I saw Huey Lewis and The News in Ottawa Ont, Canada and it was absolutely amazing! Huey and the News played everything but The Heart of Rock and Roll and all of us in the standing room (I was about 3 rows back and could see Huey just grrrrrrrreat!) only section, standing on plywood, started to stomp our feet like the sound of a heart beat. They came out and rocked the place wild!! An experience I'll never forget! Huge hug from Canada, guys! Thanks for the wonderful memories!
I believe this event took place the night before the Bob Costas Benefit Gala at the Fox Theatre in St. Louis, MO on 4/3/2005. It was a Children's Cancer charity event with HLN & comedian George Wallace performing. I arrived the night before and recall Huey telling this story when he returned to the hotel. It was exciting meeting Bill Murray backstage after the show. He was rocking out in front of the stage. One of hundreds of memories created by the band and management. Maybe I can share more.
By the way, Huey still sounded great to me singing a bit of "King Of The Road" on the Mill House Podcast #82 on YouTube. Sure wish we could get something acapella out of him. Anything.
True fans won't care if anything might be a little off-key.
All of Plan B is a masterpiece of songwriting by a band at the peak of their creativity sans the pressure of major record labels and airplay concerns. Those ladies have great taste!
Love this story....wish I was there too. Huey was such a good performer. His music was so up lifting and very dance dance dance able!!!! Never forget when he was in Santa Cruz !!!
This is the type of Huey Lewis & The News content that we want- you're doing this right. Thanks!
Listening to Plan B last night, one of those albums you can listen all the way through doesn't feel like there are any filler tracks at all.
‘My Other Woman’ is my favorite’Plan B’ track…
Love this!
