Bill: I was the first guy in the band to start using in-ear monitors. Mickey Hart of the Grateful Dead turned me on to them. We were playing a gig in Phoenix and the Dead were down there playing a big outdoor amphitheater.
Mickey said, "Come to the gig and I'll give you a pair of in-ear monitors. You can see what you think."
He gave me a battery pack and a set of in-ear monitors. I was standing behind his drum kit and he said, "Go ahead and walk anywhere you want."
So I was just kind of cruising around the back of the stage while they were playing. I was dialed into Mickey's mix. He had a pretty democratic mix of the whole band, like I do when I play. It was like listening to a record on headphones.

Great piece of info. One of the days I hope to have a chance to chat with Bill about his drumming. He has been my primary influence for as long as I have been playing
Has Huey and/or The News considered going on tour with a temporary singer and with or without Tower Of Power?
